The time of the tribes....

Um recente desafio feito pela arquitecta mais curtida deste lado do muro fez despertar o meu interesse pelo conceito de tribo urbana. Na verdade o desafio é representar geograficamente o conceito de "urbanidade intangível" que se desenvolve em cidades tão distintas como Paris, Calcutá ou Cidade do México e onde estas tribos urbanas estão incluídas...

Para os interessados, o sociólogo Françês Michel Maffesoli explica melhor o conceito moderno de tribo.

"Maffesoli explores the concept of neo-tribalism, arguing that the tribus is more than a residual category in modern social life. Sports clubs, coffee circles, fan clubs, hobby societies, political parties at the local level, community policing and single issue pressure groups are all kinds of neo-tribes. The last century and the beginning of this one saw class take the place of the masses; today, however, the postmodern tribes are the main social fact of everyday life, indicative of the versatility of the masses.
Maffesoli is concerned with the break up of mass culture into 'little masses', the heterogeneous fragments of our society of mass consumption."
